Army Crawl

So for a few weeks now, Tyler has been getting around by army crawling. It is so cute! It is like he is slithering everywhere. After he got the hang of it, he got to places real fast! Now, he is where he wants to be in the blink of an eye. If he sees something that he wants to grab, then he gets there before you even know what he is after. It amazes us that if we even look away for a second, he could already be into something by the time we turn around. The other day, he was playing with toys on the floor in our bedroom. I went to put something in the laundry. By the time I got back he was already in the bottom doors to our bedroom entertainment center and was pulling out videos. He will get into anything and everything. He grabs at whatever is in front of him. Needless to stay, we have started babyproofing the house. I put a baby lock on those doors and it is hillarious to watch him try to open the doors now. He looks perplexed at why they won't open anymore.

Since he has started army crawling, I have seen several times where it looks like he might start actually crawling. He gets up on his hands and knees but then falls back down when he trys to go forward. Today for the first time he took a couple of steps with his knees, but then went back down again. He also rocks back and forth while on his hands and knees. It is not too far off...

First Mother's Day

I am a week behind in writing this, but I have to write about how wonderful my first Mother's Day was! It started off with sweet cards from daddy and from Tyler. I also got a gift from James Avery - it was a butterfly made from two hearts necklace. Steve had to work, so I got to spend time by myself with Tyler. We ran errands and just hung out. It was great because I always enjoy my time with him especially on such a special day. Steve got off early since it was Mother's Day and we ran more errands. We then met up with his parents for dinner. We ate at Cheesecake Factory and it was so good! The weather was so pleasant, so we ate outside. The atmosphere was nice, the service was awesome, and the food of course was tasty. It was such a great Mother's Day. The best part of it being the fact that I am now a mom to a precious baby.

Second Tooth

Steve noticed Tyler's second tooth during his stay home with him today. I saw it when I got home from work. Once again...so exciting! No wonder he did not sleep well Sunday night!

This is a more recent picture but it shows his two bottom teeth

Hair

Tyler had a lot of hair when he was born. The books all say they start to lose it in the first few months and if they have darker hair it takes a little longer like the second to third month and after to start losing it. That is what happened to Tyler. Slowly but surely he started looking a little more bald. He has always kept some hair but after three months or so it looked lighter and more sparce. Earlier on, he also got his bald spot on the back of his head from rubbing his head when he looked around. It looks like he is finally starting to get his hair back. His hair looks like it is starting to get darker again and hair is growing back on his bald spot. We love kissing the bald spot so it will be different when hair is actually there but that is ok...we can still give him kisses.

Highchair

Tyler experienced one of the steps to becoming a big boy and sat in his highchair this past week. He seemed to like it. He always sits with us in his rocking chair when we eat dinner, but now that he is bigger and can sit up really well I decided it was time for him to sit in the big chair. He has not eaten in it yet (I have the bumbo with the tray for that for now), but he plays his toys or the activity tray the highchair came with. Highchairs these days can be really entertaining for the little ones!

Sounds

Tyler loves to make all kinds of sounds. He is actually quite the singer. It is so fun to listen to him. I really wonder what is going on in his head when he sings. It is so cute. He always makes his squealy noises which sound adorable. For a while he was making humming sounds (that was like a month ago) and doing things with his mouth, and then he started syllables a few weeks ago. He likes to make the dadada sounds. Of course Steve thinks that's great even though Tyler probably has no idea of what it means. Steve doesn't care though, he is just happy he is saying that sound first. Today is the first time I have heard him say the mamama sound. I got so excited and I, like Steve, do not care if he knows what it means at this point, at least he is saying it and it sounds like he is calling me. I love to see the excitement on his face when makes noise. He says everything with so much energy!
