Sitting Up

Tyler is doing such a great job of trying to sit up on his own. He does fine if you give him your finger. He can use that and pull himself up really well. On his own, it looks like he is doing stomach crunches. He pulls up and then falls back down. I am predicting it will be really soon when he can pull all the way up without any help. Not this weekend, but the previous weekend (the 19th), we were at a store and while I was trying on clothes, I thought I could sit him down and he would be fine. WRONG! He was like the leaning tower of Pisa. He kept falling over. He could sit up for a little bit and then tumble....I decided to just take the clothes home and return the ones I did not want since I could not try them on. It is amazing the difference between that weekend and this weekend. He is able to hold himself up much more steadily and is not tumbling over. The changes are amazing because they happen right before your eyes. Now I can take him to the store again...good times...

First Tooth!

Tyler got his first tooth in this week! He was a bit fussy last Sunday and then on Monday again. To our relief, we realized what the probable cause was. On Tuesday, you could feel a little poke in his bottom gum...right in the front. It has come through more and more each day. It is so exciting! Though he was slightly fussy those two days, it was nothing compared to the horror stories I have heard about when first teeth come in. He has been so good and just wants to be held a little more it seems. I have tried to take pictures but he keeps putting his tongue on it. I will keep trying though. . . This was the best picture I could get.
My camera's flash is too bright and no
flash is too dark. You can sort of see
it if you look really closely.

Mimi and Abuelito

Mimi and Abuelito came for a visit last weekend. Tyler enjoyed his time with them and Mimi and Abuelito were able to get their granchild fix. Steve and I had a room we really, really, really needed to clean up. It is one of those rooms where you put everything in you don't know where else to put. It was ridiculous. But since Mimi and Abuelito were able to watch him, we tackled it full force and got it back to a normal room. Now it looks like the study it is supposed to be. Yeah! Hopefully, it will stay that way. I have had to clean it out like this before. Anyway, we enjoyed our weekend with my mom and dad.

Jump Around!

Tyler LOVES to jump. He has so much strength. Whenever someone is holding him, one of his favorite things to do is jump. So he will jump away in their lap until their arms want to fall off. That is one of the great things about it...it builds my arm muscles. Since he likes to jump alot, someone gave me the great idea of buying one of those things to jump in. I looked into it and found one of the exersaucers that you hang in the door. I was so excited to get it for him. I put it all together and then put him in it right away. He so did not like it and got really fussy even though he was jumping in it at the same time he was fussing. I thought "oh great!" I buy this great activity thing and he doesn't even like it. I did read on the reviews that one mom said her child took a few times to like it and then loved being in it for long periods of time, so I figured there was still hope. The second time he did not like it...but the third time was a charm. He was jumping all around and have a good ol' time. I took pictures and let him go at it. I was cleaning in the kitchen while he played and then realized he was really quiet. I found him passed out on it. I guess he was having so much fun that he wore himself out. Imagine that! It was so cute. I am so glad he ended up enjoying it and can get his jumps on.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Tyler is rolling every which way if you put him on the floor and let him go. Since he is not crawling yet, that is his way of getting where he wants to go. I put him down a few weeks ago and within minutes he was across the room almost to our bathroom. I always put a blanket down, but it is no use because he will be off of it before you know it. It is fun to watch him because he is so determined and gets excited about what he is doing. He is going to be a fun one to keep up with when he actually starts walking. =)

Getting Used to the Texture

I think Tyler might be starting to accept the rice cereal a little more. I was giving it to him a few nights this past week and he still was giving a funny face. On Wednesday night when I tried, it was not as bad as before and he actually ate almost all that I was giving him. I guess he really just needed to get used to the weird taste and texture in his mouth. I am going to keep going with the rice cereal for a while and then start trying other things. One at a time...

Nursery Time

This past Sunday was the first time we put Tyler in the nursery. We have been taking him with us to Sunday school and church so far. I felt I was ready to let him socialize. He did great! He was having a good time playing with the toys and rolling around. They said he was reaching for another child's bottle at one point so they thought he might be hungry (he does that with my water bottles too). So he did have a bottle while he was there which I was not expecting, but you never know about his appetite!

Here Come The Solids

For a month and a half now, Tyler has not been getting the sleep that he started out with. He spoiled us by sleeping through the night almost from the start. By two months, he was sleeping 8-9 hours a night consistently. Then at three and a half months, he started sleeping much less and started waking up at all different hours of the night. As of now, his longest stretch is about 5 hours. Our pediatrician said it could possibly be that he is hungrier and we could start him on solids. That was at four months. I did not do it though because I wanted to hold off as long as I could since I did not want my milk supply to go down. Well, at five months now, I have decided sleep is good and I have held of long enough. We tried the solids this past weekend for the first time and it was interesting. We are starting out with the rice cereal. I don't think he really had any idea of what to do with it. He gave us the "sour" look everytime we put some on his tongue. It was funny. We tried again on Sunday and again tonight. So far, no go. I guess we just have to slowly keep trying.

Stroller Moment

We went for a walk yesterday and I decided to try and put Tyler in the stoller itself instead of in his carrier on the stroller. He looked like such a big boy and he did great! He really seemed to enjoy it on our walk. It is so amazing to see him take new steps like that, but I also look at him and get sad because time flies by so fast. It just reminds me to enjoy every moment.

Semi-Professional Photos

I decided that every few months I would get posed photos of Tyler from JCPenney since they are reasonably priced and you don't have to buy this big package if you don't want to. I took him at five weeks and again at four months. I was not told until the second time I went that we could get the photos sent to us. I was kind of upset about that because I would have liked to have copies of the first ones. I still have tons of printed photos from it, but I don't have them so that they can be saved in a file. Oh well! At least I have the second session saved. Here are some of the photos from them. They are adorable!
