Here Come The Solids

For a month and a half now, Tyler has not been getting the sleep that he started out with. He spoiled us by sleeping through the night almost from the start. By two months, he was sleeping 8-9 hours a night consistently. Then at three and a half months, he started sleeping much less and started waking up at all different hours of the night. As of now, his longest stretch is about 5 hours. Our pediatrician said it could possibly be that he is hungrier and we could start him on solids. That was at four months. I did not do it though because I wanted to hold off as long as I could since I did not want my milk supply to go down. Well, at five months now, I have decided sleep is good and I have held of long enough. We tried the solids this past weekend for the first time and it was interesting. We are starting out with the rice cereal. I don't think he really had any idea of what to do with it. He gave us the "sour" look everytime we put some on his tongue. It was funny. We tried again on Sunday and again tonight. So far, no go. I guess we just have to slowly keep trying.

Your blog looks great! This story sounds familiar to me. Neither of my kids liked any of the baby cereals. We had to skip them and go to the fruits/veggies. Sydney liked most of the baby foods she tried, but as soon as she went to table foods she was very picky (still is). Ethan, on the other hand, didn't care for baby food at all (it would take him three meals to finish one jar!), but he's my good eater now. He'll try most anything. So don't get discouraged! Keep trying. See you on Sunday!
